I bought boots and bindings direct from Romes “UK” site. Total spend close to £900. Unfortunately, as there is no explanation on the size page, just uk numbers. I bought an American size 9 rather than uk size 9… Being that this is a EU company, I cannot understand why the sizes were either, I’m EU numbers! Or, if they insist on using US numbers as their standard, why not say it’s US…
Anyway, I could have avoided that by looking closer and is not my main complaint.
When I tried to return the items Rome has set its self up to make it impossible to do so without ridiculous cost to the customer.
So. You have to pay your own shipping to Amsterdam, that alone is about £80 for these two items. That, I can make peace with and really is fair enough. (Although, I did pay £50 to have them shipped to me in the first place.)
The real problem arises in that Rome does not supply any kind of returns label, so you have to do all postage yourself. So as my package arrived in Amsterdam it cannot be disguised as a return from this destination. So I became liable for the import duty! Duty that has already been paid the other way (being sent into the uk.) this amounted to £360.
Puttying my total cost to return the items at £440 plus the original shipping cost of £50, I am out of pocket by £490! Just because a EU company chooses to use American sizes as standard without listing that they’re American sizes on a “UK” version of the site!!
To top it off. Customer service joked about my situation and did not give a flying f about it in general.
Again, do not buy direct from Rome!!
Perfect stiffness and keep my feet place very well.
Ditto
I’ve been trying and experimenting with various boots - Burton Ruler, Burton Photon, Nidecker Rift, Ride Fuse and now the Rome Libertine. The Libertine is my favorite of the whole bunch. They aren’t the most comfortable of the bunch but they fit my feet well enough without being bulky, I love the flex profile, the footprint, the board feel and the build.
I have flat feet and wear aftermarket insoles.
These boots have noticeable cushioning on top of the toes and top of the shins. Felt weird at first but after riding these for a bit, the cushioning feels like performance points. These boots can carve toe side, do well at slower speed and are great for freestyle.
Obviously, the best boot is the one that best fits your feet but these boots just have something different than the other brands I have tried.
My only complaint is that they are noticeably harder to get on and off. But once you’re in them, it’s a joy to ride these boots.
They are true to size. I wear an 11 in Burton and Nidecker and am also an 11 in the Libertine.
All of Rome SDS products are rad and preform above and beyond. Thank you for all ways being down.
I normally wear size 10.5-11 shoes and my feet measure 10.5 (26.7cm). The 10.5’s were not available so I opted to try the 10’s. I don’t have wide feet but I think I have a slightly thicker foot and my toes felt crunched up slightly with the padding in the front. The padding actually feels nice and I wish I could have tried these on in person. I think size 10.5 boot for me would have been perfect. Good boot though and feels great I just had the wrong size
Well, I went and tried this boot on at the shop. It is very nice. Looks good and feels well-built. The problem is, it is narrow, and fits great everywhere except the toe box is so freaking narrow it was crushing my normal-width feet. This is a narrow foot person boot or for people that like to be tortured. Too bad because I wanted to be able to have some boots for my Rome (Bataleon) bindings.
nice
Snug in all the right places with a responsive flex that’s not too stiff, but still holds on big landings and steeps. I went a half size down to avoid packing out but I’ll say these haven’t packed out much at all. Really great all around boot, and super comfy. Foot print is small as well. I’m in a 10.5 so it’s nice not having to worry about drag on a regular width board. My Ravine Select loves these boots. Killer stuff again Rome.
Boots fit true to size and are comfortable.
